EverQuest - 9 Years Strong

For the last month the Alliance of Dol Amroth and Echoes in Eternity have taken a break from our traditional raiding targets. With the 9th Anniversary of EverQuest came the Fabled Planes of Power – and we took full advantage of the opportunity. For just over a month we scourged the Planes of Power, devastating every target that we faced. For some of our raiders it was a glimpse of the past, of what things used to be like. For some others it was an opportunity to see some of the expansion that so many of us enjoyed to the fullest. The Planes of Power was the first full expansion that I raided with Dol Amroth, so it will always have a special place in my heart.

It was my honor to join Dol Amroth in the third quarter of 2001. I remember so much of the continual days of raiding within the Planes of Power. There are more memories, and more stories to tell then there is room and interest for a post of that nature. But looking back on those days brings some very fond memories. Being the “kid” of the guild at the age of seventeen certainly had its disadvantages. But somewhere along the way something just clicked within me – being average was no longer acceptable. The tables have certainly flipped.

Will EverQuest survive for a 10th year? Of course it will. But there are people hurting out there. When the Depths of Darkhollow was released (Expansion #10) it was a glimpse of what raiding was to become. It was the first raid that really forced you to field a full force of fully competent and focused players (and to be honest that is not always easy). Events like Hatchet, Redfang, Performer and Mayong Mistmoore were just the beginning of what was to come.

Prophecy of Ro continued on with that trend. The hardest event for a guild to overcome would be Sullon Zek – but there were also the events like “The Toiling of Dissonance Bells” and “Vertigo” – a mistake by anyone could easily cost you the raid.

The complexity of the events only got worse. With the new expansions events like Grenwald, Beltron the Shade King (which Wraith/Reviviscence/Radiant are on), Lethar 2.0 (which is so stupid to even bother with anymore) started to haunt guilds. Least we mention Solteris, the Throne of Ro which waits for them. Solteris consists of splitting your raid up into different teams doing different roles in nearly every event. The raids of early EverQuest pale in comparison at the complexity that we all now see on a daily basis.

The days of the smaller, family orientated guilds are nearing an end. In order to survive the world of EverQuest, and progress you must be bigger, faster and stronger then ever before. Yet even on our server there are guilds that defy this very thought. They have not given up, and show no signs of doing so. They are fighting a fight which might ultimately fail – but they are refusing to give up. Somewhere along their EverQuest career something clicked within them.

When other guilds across the EverQuest servers shut their doors the guilds of Quellious keep ours open, we continue on. They continue to provide their members with new encounters to see and learn, new memories to gain and ultimately more fun to be had.

The tenth year of EverQuest is coming. Hopefully it will be wonderful for everyone.

March Update..

The last month has been quite an enjoyable experience for us over in DA/EiE land. With the return of raid content to Planes of Power (Fabled Events) we’ve spent 2-3 nights a week taking a walk down memory lane. We’ve probably sacrificed one-two weeks of progression (SoF), but it’s nice to have a little bit of a break from all of Robots and Gnomes.

But we’ll discuss Fabled more once the month is done.. In March we completed Steam Factory, so now we’re just on Farm Mode for the next four weeks.. Here are some pictures though of what we’ve been up too..

We’ve got game.

On Wednesday evening a small group entered into the final chambers of Solteris, Throne of Ro. Beside the throne stood Mayong Mistmoore and Solusek Ro and then they saw us… It was a three person fight..

Then a two person fight..

Then… it wasn’t much of a fight.

On the 9th attempt we were the sole contestant standing in the end. We’d defeated Solusek Ro and Mayong Mistmoore. Who knows.. in a few months we just might get to see a Fabled Solussek Ro..

Big Bynn - 2-11-08

Big Bynn died on 2-11-08. On our fourth attempt at Deepscar he was roughly 33%. Should die this week..

Big Bynn is, and will remain a very interesting event. It’s a type of event that we’re fairly bad at in the sense that it is timed. You’ve got between 60 and 30 seconds to kill five Crystals that spawn - being a massive defensive guild (6-7 Warriors, 9-12 Clerics) - we just dont have alot of DPS some nights. But as always we find ways to win..

We’ve got plenty of room for anyone interested in raiding and seeing the high end of EverQuest. We’re looking to add a couple Rogues, Berserkers - but recruitment is open for ALL classes. Send a tell to an Officer (Chubz, Alliana, Purestevil, Qita, Sazzabi, Myrrha) to learn more.
